Q & A with Lorna Burford - Part 2

Lorna from Raindrops of Sapphire finishes up her Q & A. When I originally started the Q & A, I was hoping for a few really good answers to blog about. As it turns out, there were too many goodies in this one! So, since I am doing it in two parts, I saved some of the best answers for last. This time she talks about her inspirations, favourite creations and her goals for her Denim Line. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed putting it together! Enjoy! xo
You mentioned you want to design your own Denim line, what kind of thoughts do you put into your creations?
Lorna: I put everything about me and who I am, into my designs and creations. I like to let my personality shine through so that people can see just what they are getting. I want my designs to be younger and really fashionable but still keeping an amazing fit.

Where do your inspirations come from?
Lorna: They come from all over. Sometimes I can see someone in the street wearing an amazing pair of trousers and then I will see someone else wearing beautiful shoes and would think 'oh those 2 would look great together'. I also get inspired from other fashion bloggers, lookbook.nu etc. I love to look at other people's style and create my own from it that's completely unique to me. A lot of my outfits are based on what jeans or shoes I want to wear that day :)

How do you envision your future line?
Lorna: My future line I hope will turn out really nicely. I want to be able to have a lot of jeans in many washes and cuts that are designed for the stylish and fashionable girls but they wont have to forfeit the flattering fit of the jeans. Most fashionable pants are lacking in the flattering department. I do have some other ideas but those are a secret for now :)

What are your top 3 favourite creations so far and ones you would recommend to readers?
Lorna: Well so far, I only have one of my creations actually available to buy and that's a collaboration I did with a denim jewellery company, K.B LuSH. It's a beautiful bracelet which I designed from my personality and K.B LuSH added a few of their own touches. It's called Dragonfly Meadows and it's available to buy here.

I've also designed my own pair of jeans, but they are not available to buy. They were just a one off for myself and you can see them here.

As for a third, I do have something in the works like I said above but I can't speak about it yet so I will pick something like my strassed Christian Louboutin shoes. I was always inspired by his shoes which were crystalized/strassed and he never ever made a pink combination so I took the opportunity to do my own Louboutin's. It took forever and they are actually still not finished but you can see them here

How do you want people to feel when they wear your line?
Lorna: Confident and beautiful mainly. I want them to feel feminine as well. I want my jeans to be about enhancing a woman's shape and to show it off in a pretty way. I don't want my jeans to hide the female figure at all, just enhance it :) I want them to feel like I feel when I put on a pair of jeans I am absolutely in love with; really happy and confident because you love the way they look on you.

What is the hardest part of being a young designer?
Lorna: Well, I haven't actually become one just yet but the hardest part of breaking into the denim industry is having something completely unique and having people who will wear your brand. There are hundreds of denim brands out there and you need to stand out from the rest. It's tough trying to break into any fashion industry. Plus, when you are young, I think people wouldn't expect you to have as much knowledge or really know what you are on about which isn't always true.

You have a great taste in clothing and accessories, what is great advice you can pass along to all the readers?
Lorna: Thank you :) That's really kind! My main tip that I give to everyone is to not opt into a trend if it doesn't suit you. You have to know what works for your body and try and get around a trend in a different way. Like when high waisted trousers were really fashionable, I never wore them because they don't suit my body shape at all. There are always trends that wont suit everyone so don't be disheartened if you don't look good in a trend, scrap it and find something else you do look good in and accessorize it with the current trend of colours, scarves, jewellery, purses etc.

This brings our Q & A with Lorna from Raindrops of Sapphire to a close. I want to thank you so much for taking the time to answer all these questions! I wish you all the best and I can't wait to see your denim line!! xo

Thank you :) I would always want people to know I did them though as I wouldn't want to pass them off as bought like that :) I really appreciate your compliment though, thank you so much!
